Vered Kaminski’s designs arise out of playing with order and spontaneity, as well as drawing on the history of jewellery in her work. Her designs are comprised solely of knots and loops: each wire end always joined with the beginning, thus creating a continuous, uninterrupted flow of loops that always adhere to the rules of weaving – a wire above and one below. At first the works were flat, i.e. uncompromisingly arranged in geometric patterns similar to Islamic decoration. However, certain mistakes and technical issues created the need to im-provise and out of this Kaminski discovered new possibilities. Unexpected images and three-dimensional, abstract forms occurred spontaneously. Going along with this method over time, however, led to recognisable forms – plants, animals, people, scenes and thereby narratives and new meanings.
